The City of East Chicago began a project to refurbish their stadium after the structural steel and bleachers showed signs of heavy corrosion. During this process, lead paint was detected and required safe removal before a corrosion-resistant specialty coating could be applied to the steel.
After a full inspection of the structure, N.A. Logan determined it was necessary to launch a full containment with scaffolding to safely remove the lead paint. Once the site was secure, we sandblasted all metals to near-white metal (SSPC-SP10) to create the optimal profile for coating application. Following lead abatement, our team applied a prime coat of polyamide epoxy and a top coat of moisture-cured urethane to extend the life of the steel while also providing UV protection. The crew then coordinated proper disposal per EPA regulations.
Our team carried out this project, as we do all our projects, to exceed expectations and adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety.
